The hotel location was excellent as we where only there for two days at a family wedding. Value for money was excellent could not fault the hotel for the tariff we had paid. We ate in the bar one lunch time and could not fault the food. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice. Will be recommending the hotel to family and friends and will stay again when travelling north into Scotland. Value for Money Excellent.
Although the rooms where very clean and comfortable. They are a little tired and could do with a new alround makeover just to brighten them up.
We booked the hotel as my daughter had chosen to get married there. I personally did not have any problems but unfortunately my daughter and her fiance were spoken to rather rudely by one of the reception staff. (I do not know who this was). My daughter did complain and they received an apology, of sorts, from the person concerned. However, the rest of the party were treated with the utmost respect and the hotel went out of its way to make Anna and Mark's day one to remember. It was an amazing day, made better by the effort of your staff. Please pass this onto the staff concerned.
I would say that the hotel maybe is in need of some refurbishment, but this is not a complaint merely an observation.
The room was a bargain rate on a Sunday. The room in the extension is comfortable enough and clean, although could do with a bit of updating particularly in the bathroom. The hotel is a wedding venue, so you might be disappointed if pay top rate on a Friday / Saturday. We had the carvery on Sunday night - brilliant value and quality at £9.99 for 3 courses. The breakfast included in the £30 room rate was very good - excellent choice of hot and cold from the buffet. The staff at the hotel are friendly and attentive. The hotel is just off the M74 - ideal for a stop over or a destination - the outlet shopping is 2 mins drive away.
It fitted the bill perfectly for what we needed, a stop on the journey back from the West Coast of Scotland to the South. Rooms comfortable and well appointed, staff helpful and friendly, food good.
The noise of the Motorway
comfy bed, grounds on outside of old property looked beautiful, inside was a little disappointing.
room had a very nasty odour, bathroom was very cold with lots of cold tiles on floor. shower was warm, but didn't get hot enough. would definately not stay here, especially for a wedding or honeymoon. cleaning staff walked in without knocking on the morning before our departure.
Special steak dinner at 5£, room was very clean
Little bit too far of civilisation...
Hotel does look tired and worn in areas
I liked the fact that all the staff were very helpful and friendly
I didnt like the fact that I woke up at 4am and could not get back to sleep because of the noise the traffic on the motorway made, the Hotel needs new double glazed windows to cut this noise out.
Our Room was lovely and cosy, even though there were a couple of weddings within the hotel whilst we were there, we couldnt hear anything.
It would have been much more romantic if the deco was within the period of the main manor house, the main entrance light lit at night, and the drive way to have lights. Seating arrangements within the Bar/lounge area make more cosy and arrange for couples and not large parties. Pity the open fire which we were looking forward to seeing wasnt working, get it fixed, get the tile removed from inside the chimney. The doors to be kept closed and a smoking shelter with heater erected outside for those who smoked. The self service breakfast to be served as individual tables, more personal service and food would be hot. Team members to have a better uniform then black trousers and shirts, put a nice tarten waistcoat on, otherwise we had a good time and met some lovely people.
Quaint. Hisorical. Beautiful old building
Bathrrom was in dire need of painting. Very shabby & not very clean
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel staff were friendly and rooms well prepared. The food supplied was very good and value for money.
We went on a Sunday night in feb not much open in surrounding area and the hotels blacksmiths shop was shut during our stay.
I feel I cannot tick the above boxes as we only stayed one night and do not know the surrounding area, but it met our needs as we were attending the gretna registry office the following morning. The receptionist was very pleasant and welcoming and we would stay again.
Friendly staff. Excellent food. Good location.
Hotel a but tired - price we paid compared to others we spoke to seemed very high.
Cheap and convenient stopover, excellent breakfast, clean and comfortable slighter better than basic accomodation
staff very courteous friendly and helpful
as everything was perfect there's no answer to this
